What are Different Types of Hydrangeas What are Different Types of Hydrangeas

There are dozens of distinct types of hydrangeas. In popular gardening however, the list can be narrowed down to five.

1. Panicle Hydrangea

These cone-shaped hydrangeas are very popular amongst gardeners for their ability to be easily pruned into shapes that are pleasing to the eye. They're also quite hardy, allowing for the greatest amount of climate and flexibility when growing.

2. Mophead Hydrangea

The mophead hydrangea is somewhat at the other end of the spectrum. Rather than being cherished for its hardy qualities, it is cherished for the almost natural bouquet that the flowers form when they are snipped from the flowers. Bouquets often use hydrangeas of this type in them and other floral arrangements would be well-served by them as well.

3. Annabelle Hydrangea

Annabelle hydrangeas are not that different from their mophead cousins. The main difference is color. Annabelle flowers can be found in all-white.

4. Lacecap Hydrangea

Lacecap hydrangeas are different in look from the others due to their large leaves. With small flowers and large leaves, they have a distinct look to them.

5. Oakleaf Hydrangea

Oakleaf hydrangeas form the most common hydrangeas used in the country. They are beautiful and functional within a garden and come in many excellent varieties.
