There are several tips that you should consider when installing a timber retaining wall deadman. One tip is to attach a deadman to the wall for every 16 square feet of the wall. This gives total support for the wall. Another tip is to find an anchor that is heavy enough to support the portion of the wall that it is anchored to. When installing the deadman, you should dig deep enough to keep it steady. Placing it near the top of the soil, or at a too shallow area, may cause it to be pulled out immediately because of the lateral pressure of the soil, pushing on the timber retaining wall.
