What is the difference between a garbage disposal air switch and a batch feed?

The only difference between a garbage disposal air switch and a batch feed model is the way in which they turn on. Continuous feed models, or the type that use an air switch to turn off and on, are controlled by a pneumatic switch that is located on the wall. Batch feed garbage disposals have a special stopper that is placed in the drain opening and is turned to switch the disposal off and on. Otherwise, both types of garbage disposals work in exactly the same manner. They both spin and chop debris into pieces small enough to be washed down the drain pipe and into the sewer or septic tank.
