A garbage disposal air switch is used in place of a traditional electric switch to turn the garbage disposal unit off and on. Using a pneumatic air flow is safer to operate than an electric control switch. The air flow design also makes them safer to have in place in areas with a danger of becoming wet, such as the area near the kitchen sink. Instead of flipping a switch to turn the garbage disposal unit off and on, you simply push a button on the air switch to operate the unit. This works much like the buttons that are used to operate the jets in a whirlpool tub.
