What to Do If a Garage Door Opener Belt is Off Track What to Do If a Garage Door Opener Belt is Off Track

If you are are having trouble with your garage door opener belt running off track, there are a few things that you need to do to fix it.

Be Safe

The first thing you want to do is make sure no one is standing near the door. If the door is open when this happens, be sure to move aside and steer clear.

Remove the Track System

Use a ladder to take the track system off of the bracket and bring it to the floor. Release what is left on the track of the belt using the lever that is close to the end of the opener.

Slide Belt In

Slide the belt onto the track and line it up. You want to make sure that the tooth section faces in. Make sure that the belt is around the sprocket and is tight. Then, make sure it stays put as you bring the opener back up to the bracket and reinstall it.

These few guidelines should help you to get the garage door opener belt back on track if it comes off. Safety is a big issue, and you want to make sure that you are aware of what is going on around you. Do not leave anything under an open door.
