Why Are Attic Baffles Necessary for an Insulated Attic?
Attic baffles are necessary in an insulated attic to provide air flow. If an attic did not have adequate air flow, moisture could build up along the wood and under the vapor barrier. This could lead to mold and mildew formation. The baffles, or vents, allow air to flow within the attic so that the moisture can escape. This not only prevents mold and mildew from forming, but keeps the insulation from becoming moist. The baffles are cut inside the eaves so that air can flow into the soffit vents.
