Will an ATV Snowblower Attachment Work?
Are you thinking of purchasing a snowblower attachment for your ATV? You most likely have many questions about these attachments, but the main one is whether the attachment will work. Here are some things to consider.
How it Attaches
If you would like to hook a snowblower up to your ATV you will need to purchase a snowblower attachment gear to put on your machine. Some snowblowers include this attachment. If you do not have the proper equipment, the snowblower will not work.
There are several different sizes of ATV’s. You are going to need to make sure you are purchasing the right attachment for your specific machine. It will not work if you can not hook it up, and you do not want to purchase a snowblower that is too heavy for your ATV or one that will put stress on your ATV frame. The snowblower you choose should bear its own weight.
Its Own Engine
Some snowblowers come with their very own engine while others run off the power from your ATV. If you are looking for more power, you will want to purchase one with its own engine.
There are 2 different types of attachments--a stage 1 attachment that uses a single impeller to discharge snow and a state 2 attachment that is able to move heavy, wet snow. A stage 1 attachment has a smaller motor for lighter jobs and areas with less snow. A stage 2 attachment has a bigger motor, is usually self propelled and uses 2 augers--1 to pull the snow in and 1 to expel the snow. If you buy the wrong stage of snowblower for your area, the attachment will not work properly and you will not be happy with the attachment.
Tires and Chains
To keep your ATV from slipping or tipping over, you will want to invest in either ATV winter tires or chains so you can plow through the snow rather than getting stuck in it!
If you are in a geographic area that has a lot of snow, then an ATV snowblower attachment may be just what you are looking for. If you select the right one for you and your ATV it will work out very well--saving you a lot of time and keeping you out of the cold, wet weather. With tires and chains it is all about proper installation. If you have questions a great place to ask them is at your ATV dealership. The Internet is also a wonderful source because it will provide you with user reviews and ratings on any given ATV attachment as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each unit. Don’t forget about the snowblower store, either. They do specialize in this area, after all! Happy shopping!
