Would replacing my kitchen sink plumbing help prevent future clogs?
Kitchen sink plumbing can be tricky and frustrating to deal with. An ounce of prevention in most cases is better than having to constantly unclog drains.
- If you have cast iron plumbing or you notice a leak in the trap or U joint, most likely replacing the sink plumbing will aid in preventing future clogs. Cast iron pipes will have a build up inside them that will create a smaller opening for food and water to flow.
- Newer pipes, such as PVC, won't need to be replaced to prevent clogs. Instead, be careful of what you put down the drain and occasionally run just the hot water tap to clean the drains and pipes.
