Other than granite counters, I did all the work myself ... plastering, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tiling and painting. Stripped wallpaper and re-plastered to match rest of house. Did a beaded board wainscoting with chair rail. Added mosaic tile backsplash. Had gas run to house and updated range with an Electrolux Dual Fuel gas range and Samsung stainless steel microwave and counter depth french door refrigerator. Replaced out dated light fixtures with updated fixtures with dimmers and put in puck lighting under cabinets. Had to relocate a few electrical junction boxes in the process. Old microwave was too low to new gas range so I cut out a set of cabinets, shortened exhaust pipe and raised microwave opening by 4 inches and trimmed out openings over new microwave using a cut down door from old cabinet to cover exhaust. 1" mini blinds were replaced with 2" faux wood blinds and windows trimmed with door molding for plantation shutter look. Painted kitchen and adjoining family room in French Linen by Porter Paints and painted one wall in family room that extends over breakfast bar with a darker shade as an accent wall. Lastly, the cabinets took on a whole new look by simply switching biscuit, ceramic pulls with rubbed oil bronze pulls.
