Tools & Materials

  • Labor alone is the main material used
  • Minwax Dark Walnut oil-based stain
  • Minwax Polyeurothane in Satin

Summary

I found this antique kneehole desk by the curb in very sorry shape. It was missing the hardware and the finish was all but gone. I brought what was left of the finish down to find that the wood used to make the desk was in fact walnut and not pine. After doing extensive damage control and filling multiple divets, I brought this piece back to life using a Minwax Dark Walnut oil-based stain/poly mixture and then added some much needed hardware. I sold the desk to one of my clients who was happy to have a similar desk to his fathers who had previously passed away.
