Candy Store Kitchen

I added new appliances and, since I couldn't afford new cabinets at that time, as a quick fix I painted the old ones. I removed the unused cabinet doors from above the fridge and put plants up there and a little light. I added rope lights under the cabinets and around the perimeter of the ceiling hidden behind added molding. One thing that I do not have a photo of is the ceiling. I covered it with silver metallic patterned fabric, pulled tight making it look like a tin ceiling. It looked great! I really did love my red candy store kitchen and my guests seemed to wind up congregating there - it truly was a cheery environment but after a few short years the cabinets were beginning to self-destruct; inside of drawers was turning to sawdust and at long last the cabinet door just below the sink fell off! Time for new cabinets. (See blue plaid transformation)
