Dining Room Transformation

5 tools

Here is my dining room. Let me first start by saying that I am a wood worker, not a decorator by any means:-) The before pic is from about 10 years ago keeping in mind that this is our first home and my first shot at decorating, I know it's bad... Finally though, I got up the courage to update the wainscotting and painted it black and a color called Hunters White by Valspar, though it is more beige than white. I also built a farm house table and got some updated seating. The walls are a dark grey with a ruby red accent wall. I added some decorative "boxes" to frame my candles around the kitchen doorway. I also ran the 16" Indian slate tile from the kitchen (on the diagonal) through the dining room and on down the rest of the attached hallway. I updated the curtains to a grey with a very subtle white stitching throughout and, added a large area rug to keep feet warm in the mornings. I added a very large metal medallion to the tall wall above the kitchen doorway as well. The sideboard in the photos is one that I built for the space out of pine and beadboard. I wanted an eclectic feel to the room but, probably got more transitional instead:-)

A great paint color Some curtains Decorations And some very comfortable seating! Notebudget includes material for the table and sideboard build
