This was a six month build which was donated a year ago to tornado disaster relief. The bed uses heavy timbers through out the project. Side rails are joined to posts with heavy duty metal rail fasteners. It was a very rewarding project.
A queen size bed built a year ago for disaster relief.
I formed each post from five select grade pine boards.
I formed tenons on the cross members...
...and created the foot board.
The head board went together in much the same way except the panel.
I pre-stained parts of the head board.
After making the side rails, I formed a number of finials and picked the four which were best. Stained them and attached to each post.
The bed was donated to a family in central Alabama whose home was destroyed by tornado.
