My friend borrowed my snowblower and accidentally pulled the starter rope after the engine had started. The locking pawls engaged with the starter cup and everything blew apart. It broke the starter cup and damaged the locking pawls' metal cover, broke a locking pawl, and broke the rope.I was told this was a difficult repair and to take it to a shop. The shops I spoke to would not tell me exactly how to take it apart, and said I needed special tools. I figured it out and it's easy to do. No specialized tools required, all common items.
New rope • New locking pawl • New metal pawl cover • New starter cup on the motor.
