I wanted a farmhouse kitchen that was traditional enough for the home but cool enough for me. I searched high and low in magazines and finally found the right basket weave tutorial for 6" subway tile with the help of Pintrest. Refurbishing the old cabinets took nearly as long as the tile. I wound up investing in a 150 wet tile saw from Lowe's that isn't my favorite but I'm keeping. I got the supplies at a discount store or on clearance - 50 subway tile, mr. seconds 35 field tile wayfair 25 bullnose tile, wayfair 50 hardware, wayfair 30 mastic, grout, etc. I took some time lapse videos and may post them to my blog.

Farmhouse tile cabinet makeover - Grey "stone" countertop and white subway tile basket weave backsplash with cup pulls etc on the cabinets.

Setting the counter top, chosen to be reminiscent of soapstone. I finished the edge with bullnose over cut field tile.

Laying the tile in a diamond pattern in progress. Cabinets were painstakingly sanded & painted and hardware was changed.
